Tranexamic Acid
Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic agent that inhibits plasmin-induced fibrinolysis by binding plasmin. It is a medication used to treat or prevent excessive blood loss from major trauma, postpartum bleeding, surgery, tooth removal, nosebleeds, and heavy menstruation. It is also used for hereditary angioedema.
In the field of cosmetics tranexamic acid has been used to address skin discoloration via topical application. This ingredient has been shown to diminish the appearance of discoloration and improve stubborn brown patches.
