Thiamine pyrophosphate or thiamine diphosphate (ThDP) or cocarboxylase, is a thiamine (vitamin B1) derivative which is produced by the enzyme thiamine diphosphokinase.
In microbiology it is a component in Vitox ; a sterile lyophilised concentrate of essential growth factors. Many workers prefer such a chemically defined growth supplement to yeast extract for the supplementation of Thayer Martin Medium.
