Oxolinic Acid
Oxolinic acid is a quinolone antibiotic developed in Japan in the 1970s.In microbiology Oxolinic acid is used as a component in Columbia Blood Agar as a selective supplement for the isolation of Streptococcus species.
In the area of ornamental fish, Oxolinic acid is a very strong gram negative antibiotic and is very effective against “hole in the side” which is very common amongst koi fish. It can be mixed in feed or used as a water treatment.
