Mecillinam
Mecillinam or also known as Amdinocillin is an extended-spectrum penicillin antibiotic that binds specifically to penicillin binding protein 2, and is only considered to be active against Gram-negative bacteria. Mecillinam can be used for the treatment of uncomplicated urinary tract infections.
In microbiology it is often included in MIC test strips for antimicrobial susceptibility testing against Gram-negative microbial isolates.
