Levofloxacin Hydrochloride
Levofloxacin hydrochloride is a fluoroquinolone broad spectrum antibiotic with activity against gram-positive and negative bacteria. Levofloxacin is the active S-(-) isomer of the antibacterial agent ofloxacin and is significantly more efficacious against bacteria than the R-(+) isomer. Levofloxacin and related fluoroquinolones function by inhibiting Topo II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV activity and interrupting DNA replication.
