Kanamycin A
Kanamycin A, also known as kanamycin, is an antibiotic used to treat severe bacterial infections and tuberculosis. It is not a first line treatment. It is used by mouth, injection into a vein, or injection into a muscle. Kanamycin A is an antibiotic that belongs to the family of aminoglycosides. The antibiotic associates with ribosomal RNA by forming a complex at the bacterial ribosomal A site. Studies show that when Kanamycin A and Neomycin B are conjugated through lipid conjugation there is an increase of antibacterial activity against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis (MRSE) from Kanamycin A and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) from both antibiotics.
