Homoharringtonine
Omacetaxine mepesuccinate, formerly named as homoharringtonine or HHT, is a pharmaceutical drug substance that is indicated for treatment of chronic myeloid leukemia. It is a natural product first discovered in Cephalotaxus harringtonia, now manufactured by hemi-synthesis. Homoharringtonine blocks the elongation phase of translation by binding to the 60-S ribosome subunit. Additionally, homoharringtonine has been shown to lower telomerase levels, inhibit protein synthesis, and induce apoptosis.
