Guanidine Thiocyanate
Guanidine thiocyanate is a denaturing agent and is used routinely in RNA isolation. It is a protein denaturant and used most commonly for the isolation of intact RNA due to its ability to inhibit RNase. It is still currently in short supply as it is being widely used as a key reagent in VTM’s (transport medium for viruses) for the collection and preservation of clinical specimens containing viruses, including SARS-CoV-2 and (COVID-19).
