Fosmidomycin Sodium Salt
Fosmidomycin Sodium Salt is a phosphonic acid product that inhibits the nonmevalonate pathway for isoprenoid biosynthesis. This antibiotic suppresses both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria and shows a remarkable increase in potency when combined with glucose 6-phosphate, fructose 6-phosphate, human blood, or horse blood. In addition, Fosmidomycin is more effective than other antibiotics such as fosfomycin, cephalexin, carbenicillin, or trimethoprimsulfamethoxazole against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus vulgaris, Enterobacter cloacae, and E. aerogenes.
