Cefotaxime Sodium Salt
Cefotaxime Sodium Salt is a cephalosporin antibiotic and is active against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. In addition, cefotaxime blocks the division of cyanobacteria. It also has an ability to inhibit the cell division of lower plant organelles/plastids such as the photosynthetic organelles of glaucophytes and chloroplasts of bryophytes.
In Microbiology Cefotaxime is often used as a component in a combination disk method for detecting extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs).
