Amphotericin B Injection Grade USP42
Amphotericin B Injection Grade usp42. This is the injectable Grade USP42 of Amphotericin B, also known as Fungizone. It is an antifungal drug. It was originally extracted from Streptomyces nodosus, a filamentous bacterium, in 1955, at the Squibb Institute for Medical Research. Its name originates from the chemical’s amphoteric properties.
In Microbiology it is used as a component in Modified Listeria Selective Enrichment Supplement, A selective supplement containing Amphotericin B as a replacement for cycloheximide for the isolation of Listeria monocytogenes. It is also used in LCAT Selective Supplement (Lincomycin,Colistin Sulfate, Amphotericin and Trimethoprim). In Cell culture Amphotericin B is used for the prevention or elimination of fungal contaminants. It interferes with fungal membrane permeability by forming channels in the membranes and causing small molecules to leak out.
