Acriflavine Hydrochloride
Acriflavine hydrochloride is a topical antiseptic from acridine.
In the field of aquarium fish it is used to treat a variety of ailments from fungal infections in fish to disinfecting and treating open wounds. Typically when mixed at a proportion of 3g/1000 litres Acriflavine can be used to kill all protozoan parasites including Costia, White Spot, Chilodonella and Trichodena. It may also be used as an alternative to Malachite Green for treatment of disease in scale-less fish such as Koi, catfish, elephant-nose, and some members of the Characin family.
In microbiology it is also used as a component in a selective supplement for the isolation of listeria.
