TTC (2,3,5-Triphenyltetrazolium Chloride)
A Discovery speciality
Triphenyl tetrazolium chloride, TTC, or simply tetrazolium chloride (with the formula 2,3,5-triphenyl-2H-tetrazolium chloride) is a redox indicator commonly used in biochemical experiments especially to indicate cellular respiration.
In agricultural and crop research, The TTC-test is commonly used to assess the viability of seeds that have failed to germinate. Tetrazolium salt stains all living tissue in the seed embryo red, thus enabling trained analysts to determine the seeds viability or otherwise. The tetrazolium test is used to give a quick estimate of germination potential.
