Mupirocin
Mupirocin is an antibiotic produced by Pseudomonas fluorescens. It is used topically and is effective against Gram-positive bacteria, including MRSA. Mupirocin is inactive for most anaerobic bacteria, mycobacteria, mycoplasma, chlamydia, yeast and fungi. Mupirocin is used in microbiology in Antimicrobial Susceptibility Discs in Cartridges.
Mpuirocin exhibits bacteriostatic action and can beused to treat impetigo and skin infections.
