Nordihydroguaiaretic Acid
Nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA) is an antioxidant phenolic compound found in the creosote bush (Larrea tridentata).
Nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA) has been reported to exhibit anti-cancer activities both in vitro and in vivo. These anti-cancer properties in breast cancer cells demonstrate the ability of NDGA to directly inhibit the function of two receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs), the insulin-like growth factor receptor (IGF-1R) and the c-erbB2/HER2/neu (HER2/neu) receptor. Nordihydroguaiaretic acid (NDGA) is also used in cosmetics and is the most powerful of all the antioxidant examined with revealed biological properties as a free-radical scavenger.
