L-Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C)
Ascorbic acid (also known under the name Vitamin c) is a naturally occurring organic compound with antioxidant properties. Vitamin C, is found in fresh fruits, berries and green vegetables. It is one of the water soluble vitamins. It dissolves well in water to give mildly acidic solutions.
Roche began producing Vitamin C synthetically from 1934.In 2003 Roche sold its vitamins business to DSM.
In cosmetics, it is widely used in a number of skin care preparations including lotions and serums.
